Review: Stop By The Skyhawk Cafe

By Montez Taylor

The Skyhawk Cafe has meals at an affordable price that students and staff should take advantage of.

Because of the location of Sauk Valley Community College, students and staff are not able to grab a bite to eat without making at least a 10 minute drive. The Skyhawk Cafe has options for all of your cravings from breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks.

One morning before my 11am class I got the breakfast special that included two eggs, hashbrowns and bacon along with a fruit cup for the price of $7. Not only was the food made to order but it also came out fresh and hot which saved me the drive to McDonalds and tasted just as good.

The lunch ladies are always keeping up with the cafe, making sure utensils and condiments are always stocked and they’re always polite. Orders are done in a timely fashion as well or picked from the Grab & Go station. I was very pleased and it was a good way to start the morning.

For lunch I grabbed chicken tenders with fries which cost me around $8 dollars total. Although it does not taste like Chick-Fil-A or Canes the food tastes good for how convenient and costly it is and the cafe also provides many condiments. It is a total bargain for your budget.

The Skyhawk Cafe also has some very convenient features too. You are able to place your order online for pick up so it can be ready as soon as you walk into campus. Which also saves staff and students time and gas because they can get any items they need on their way to the office or class. They also have included a new meal planner app that is available to all students and staff.

The Skyhawk Cafe offers a good quality of items and students and staff should definitely save the extra gas money and give the Skyhawk Cafe a chance. The cafe is located on the second floor of the building and is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30am-1:30pm and Fridays from 7:30-11am.
